On-blog-Quiz
I found the Diane Hacker website to be very informational yet difficult at the same time. The site usually broke down each question into parts. If you chose the wrong answer,it told you why it was wrong and what context it would be used in. If you were correct it would let you know what words were correct for that topic and show you an example. After i got a decent understanding of the question or topic I would move onto the next question. It made me realize how much information I was behind on and had forgotten. One of the things I learned was the difference between active and passive verbs. An example of that would be "Experience teaches many lessons." The subject "experience names the actor. A few more things I learned about were choppy sentence's and Active verbs.

Story In A Box
Last summer I had an adventure of a lifetime down at the boundary waters. I never would have known that, coming down here for my traditional "get away from it all time" could have ever turned into this.. I found and saw things; odd things I never have seen in my life, nearly almost dying!. This was one adventure that I will never forget.
I went up to the main cabin, like usual to rent out my canoe and got my stamp for my discount next year, yes!.I always get annoyed when they have me measure myself with a ruler, to provide the proper boat, I mean really! I think a meter stick would be more appropriate. But I get over that fact as soon as I get in that canoe, and the water splashes up and brushes against my face, all my past worries come to a hault and fade away. As I continued down the water, the current begin to become swift, and left me at a loss for control, smashing at rocks over and over, until it began to have a slow leak. In the process, my wallet and bags went over the side, but that was the least of my worries. It seemed like the canoe had a will of its own, along with the insane current. I found myself drifting further than I have ever gone before in my past experiences, until my canoe drifted itself upon a shore. It was littered with the remains of busted up canoes, which came to me as a surprise, this many people have came upon this same shore in possibly the same way. I found myself walking across the shore into the forest ahead. I continued along this, until I came across a small house, it looked to be abandoned, but what caught my attention the most, was the large human statue in front of the house. I examined it, I was amazed by the great detail. With that aside, I continued into the house, had to kick the rotten door down to enter. Yet again, there were some more odd things. There was what looked to be like a drummer boy toy on the ground, next to a large wooden head. I began to walk across the floor towards these odds things, a creak with each step. I picked up the wood head and as soon as I picked up the wooden head, I heard a loud creak and the floor below me fell apart, and I found myself falling into the basement below! I brushed off the rubble on me and found myself unscathed, thank God, so I continued to explore. I pushed aside large cobwebs that were blocking, which looked like a cave, as I stepped in, I noticed something shining in the corner of my eye, so I bent over and moved around the dirt, to my disbelief, I found what looked to be like some old coins and a mini plate of some sort. I rubbed the extra dirt off the coins and could make out Singapore, must be from where its from I had thought. As I continued down the cave, I began to see light. I was excited at the thought of an exit, but before I came to the exit I came across what looked liked a silk cloth, and as I picked it up, old chestnuts began to rain out of it. I found that to be very odd, but continued anyway. I finally was out of the camp and saw a tree stump which had a small vase on it. I wondered what that would possibly be doing out here, but soon got over it because I noticed there was a flare gun near the stump, which I fired, in wait of help.
Soon after I was rescued by forest patrol, and was escorted back in a helicopter. This was one trip I will never forget and will tell my grandchildren about. For all of you future canoer's out there, be prepared for a possible trip of your lifetime. With that said, get a canoe and get out there!
